From Yorkville to Elm Street
In August 1980, Giacomo first opened his dining establishment in Yorkville, Toronto as Café 2000. Ten years later, in 1990, he moved the family to 37 Elm Street — and named it Donatello.
This elegant downtown fine-dining restaurant is a treat for fans of authentic Italian cuisine, served in a welcoming, unhurried atmosphere. On warm summer nights, the action spills onto our front terrace and romantic rooftop patio — the whole neighbourhood smells like garlic and Amarone.
What we serve hasn’t changed much across four and a half decades: fresh pasta rolled the morning of, sauces built from good stock and patience, a wine list that treats the boot as a real place instead of a theme, and a room that trusts couples, families, tourists, solo diners and regulars in more or less equal measure.
